About Dr. Minkin
Dr. Minkin is certified through the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a Center of Excellence Surgeon. In addition, he is also Board Certified in General Surgery and Advanced Laparoscopic, or Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is the Founder and Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Des Peres Hospital and an attending, teaching faculty surgeon for the General Surgery Residency Program. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery for the University of Kansas City, College of Health Sciences. He has safely performed 1000 Lap Band Surgeries in the St. Louis area. He was the first bariatric surgeon in St. Louis to receive the prestigious “Lap-Band Champion” designation. In addition to performing a full array of general and advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures, Dr. Minkin is also proficient in both upper and lower endoscopy as well. Dr. Minkin is a clinical course instructor teaching visiting, out of state surgeons new techniques in single-incision laparoscopy and the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy operation.
Dr. Minkin specializes exclusively in the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy Procedures. Dr. Minkin performs laparoscopic Bariatric surgery at Des Peres, DePaul and St. Clare Hospitals.
